A website blog is probably one of the most useful tools you can be using for your business.
Not only is it a great way to keep your clients and potential clients up to date with your news, events and industry knowledge, but it also keeps the search engines happy by continually adding fresh and new content to your website.
What do I talk about in my blog?
A lot of people are afraid of the term “blog” because they think there is some rocket science approach to it. There really isn’t! It is simply a great place to keep organized information about what is going on in your business, share news or events of your business, talk about industry trends, and whatever else you think noteworthy. It is a place where you can tell your business story, and share information that is important to you, therefore, should be important to your viewers as well.
Why use a blog though?
The purpose of having a website is to drive traffic to it. The more page views you have, the more the search engines like you, and that is what makes you go up and down in the ranks. By having a blog ON your website, you are constantly publishing new content on your website, which is new information for the search engines to index.
Your social media pages such as Facebook, Google+ etc. are meant to support your website. By sharing your blog posts on social media sites, it allows people to click on your blog links, thus driving people ONTO your website (remember, your goal is to always push traffic to your website).
It’s like two for one!
The blog really serves two purposes:
- It keeps your clients and potential clients up to date with your news, events and industry knowledge.
- It is as a great way to drive traffic to your website, and to keep adding new content to your website, thus making the search engines happy!
